Elevator World has packaged an Elevator Field Safety Course based on existing self-study materials widely available in the industry. The EFSC counts as 3.5 contact hours (0.35 CEU) towards re-certification.
Approved by: NAEC for CET/CAT, QEI Services and NAESA for QEI. (A maximum of 0.2 CEU for online courses per annual renewal period can be applied towards maintenance of qualifications for NAESA certified inspectors.) Also approved by the State of Pennsylvania for UCC recertification and Florida for CC recertification.

The Elevator Industry Field Employees' Safety Handbook is also available online at http://safety.elevator-world.com. The site also provides quick "safety quizzes" that would prepare a student for taking the EFSC.

General jobsite safety practices and procedures.This information is inclusive for personal safety, the safety of other elevator industry technicians and for the safety of other trades working in proximity to elevator industry work.
The jobs and duties required of the elevator technician during servicing and maintenance of building transportation equipment/systems in accordance with the pertinent safety standards and practices.
The jobs and duties required of the elevator technician during installation, repair or modernization of building transportation equipment/systems in accordance with the pertinent safety standards and practices.

Service Maintenance in the pit, hoistway and machine room
Hoistway access/Egress
Maintenance of escalators and moving walks
Hazard Communications and MSDS/container labels
Use of solvents and painting equipment

Testing Procedures
Once the applicant has paid for the exam they will have four weeks to take the test. The test will consist of 80 questions, 40 Multiple Choice and 40 True/False. You will have 90 minutes to complete the exam. For the $75 fee the applicant will be allowed 2 free retakes of the exam. Subsequent retakes will be $25.00 each.
Enrollment Procedures
1. Study the Field Employee's Safety Handbook, DVD/Video, or review material on safety test.
2. Register and pay online with credit card to take the Elevator Field Safety Course (EFSC).
3. Within 2 to 3 businiess days you will receive an email with instructions for the exam.
4. Use the provided online link, ID, and Password to login to the Online Testing Center.
5. If you scored 80% or above, you will receive your 3.5 contact hours certificate of credit via email.
